We know that everyone is busy, that time is short and serving a church community is a sacrifice.
There is no pressure to be on a team, but we want to help everyone find their place and we would love to help you find your shape, so do get in contact as we’d love to talk with you. Alternatively, have a look below at ways you can be involved in serving our church in our midweek and Sunday activities.
MIDWEEK ACTIVITIES

Creating a welcoming, fun and open space for all our young people is essential. Monday Club is our shop window for young people, it is often the first place they come into contact with us and where they meet members of the church community. Monday Club team needs people who are approachable, responsible…and ready to play a game.
You will need to complete a DBS check, safeguarding training and referencing, and have been part of Saint Laurence church for at least six months.
When: Monday club is weekly and happens between 4-5.30pm, team need to arrive half an hour early and will leave about 15 minutes after the young people have left.
SUNDAY ROLES

Young people are at the heart of our community and showing them love and acceptance is what we are about. Most young people want to know trusted adults who are genuine. Of course, we would love to point all our young people toward Jesus and help them to encounter His Spirit. FUEL team need to be able to lead a discussion and not take themselves too seriously.
You will need to complete a DBS check, safeguarding training and referencing, and have been part of Saint Laurence church for at least six months.
When: The team serving FUEL are encouraged to arrive from 4.30 pm and will leave 15 minutes after the young people have left. -
Having children as part of our community is a privilege. Serving on Kids Team is not about being an all-round entertainer, rather it is about pointing our children towards Jesus and helping them form their own personal relationship with Him. Our team seek to create a safe space with trusted adults where everyone can learn and enjoy themselves.
You will need to complete a DBS check, safeguarding training and referencing, and have been part of Saint Laurence church for at least six months.
When: The team serving children at Service ZERO are encouraged to arrive from 1.30 pm to prepare. -
Music plays a key role in many of our gatherings as we seek to enable people to worship and engage with God. As we are small this requires some preparation prior to the service as well as being present throughout. It helps if you have some experience or play an instrument, however, we want to encourage involvement wherever possible.
You will need to complete a DBS check, safeguarding training and referencing, and have been part of Saint Laurence church for at least six months.When: The worship team need to give an hour or two to practice prior to a Sunday and be prepared to arrive at least an hour before the service to do final preparation and run-throughs.

Our audio/visuals team is a key part of our worship, overseeing all the visuals on the screens which enable people to worship and engage with God. As we are small this requires some preparation prior to the service as well as being present. Training will be provided, however, it helps if you have some experience of using presentation software or have used sound equipment.
You will need to complete a DBS check, safeguarding training and referencing, and have been part of Saint Laurence church for at least six months.
When: The audio/visuals team will need to give an hour or two to set up prior to a Sunday and be prepared to arrive at least an hour before the service to do final preparation and run-throughs. -
We want everyone who visits Saint Laurence to know welcome. At Service ZERO we want to provide a welcome at the door of that makes everyone feel like they are amongst friends. Our car parking is off-site and although not far away we need people to buzz in cars as they arrive and be the first face people will see.
You will need to complete a DBS check, safeguarding training and referencing, and have been part of Saint Laurence church for at least six months.
When: The car park and welcome team serving at Service ZERO are encouraged to arrive from 1.30 pm to arrive ahead of visitors and regulars. -
At Service ZERO the hospitality team helps set up, prepare refreshments, provide drinks after the service, and clear up afterwards. We like to think if you make a cup of tea or coffee for yourself at home, you are qualified to be on the hospitality team. The reality is that being part of the hospitality team you have a key role in community building.
When: The hospitality team serving at Service ZERO are encouraged to arrive from 1.30 pm to set up prior the service. -
We would love to think that set-up and set-down are activities that everyone can be involved in, so why not come early and get involved.
